Born and raised in the housing projects, he overcame the darkness of addiction in his family, the perils of street life, homelessness, and the struggles of being expelled from seven high schools. In his early twenties, Marcelto encountered Christ and embraced a transformative relationship that redefined his purpose and path. Today, as a devoted husband to Tyila, father of eight, and grandfather of eight, Marcelto leads his family with unwavering faith and love, ensuring their lives are anchored in God’s plan. Whether serving on his church’s leadership team, partnering with his wife in community outreach, or passionately making God’s Word relevant to youth, Marcelto exemplifies a life renewed by grace. With a heart that radiates kindness and a joy that is infectious, Marcelto inspires everyone he meets to see God’s light, no matter how dark the journey has been.

Marcelto "MJ" Cooks Jr. embodies dedication, simplicity, and service. From a young age, MJ learned the value of giving back through community outreach alongside his family. This foundation of service carried him into the United States Navy, where he honorably served as a Master at Arms, safeguarding others through law enforcement and security operations. Now rooted in his mother’s hometown, MJ is forging a legacy of growth and renewal, developing his family property with goals of homesteading and pursuing higher education while contributing to his community through his work in local industry. With a steadfast commitment to excellence and a heart for building a meaningful life, MJ inspires others to embrace their purpose and work toward a future grounded in faith, family, and service.
